Akkar Shotguns

About Akkar Shotguns

Akkar’s story began in 1985, when it was founded as a modest manufacturing facility in Istanbul. Working in the shotgun and automotive industries it began producing and distributing pump-action and gas-operated semi-automatic shotguns under the brand Altay. This enabled Akkar to create business deals with other international production companies, expanding its reach.

In 2005, Akkar launched the 206 series of lightweight shotguns which featured a classic look combined with ergonomic features, setting them apart from their competition. This success was followed up by the Mammut 300 series of three-barrel shotguns in 2012; furthering their position as a leader in the gun market.

Today, Akkar’s shotgun collection is comprised of sporting, hunting, and tactical designs which come in various gauges and calibers under 14 different registered trademarks such as Mammut®, Churchill®, Altay®, Karatay®, Maxi-Mag®, M-2000®, Armstrong®, Apache®, Komanchi® Poseidon® and Polaris®. Quality is ensured through its adherence to The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI) standards while also being tested and recognized by CIP (International Proof Commission) standards for compatibility with steel shots – a result of heightened environmental awareness against lead pellets polluting nature.
