Stream Setup Guide

Technical requirements, camera setup, audio configuration, and optimizing your stream quality.

Technical Requirements

To stream on WeaponDepot, you need a device with a camera and microphone (a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a webcam works), a stable internet connection with at least 5 Mbps upload speed for standard quality or 10 Mbps for high-definition streaming, and a modern web browser. For the best stream quality, use a dedicated webcam or DSLR camera connected to your computer rather than a built-in laptop camera. External microphones produce significantly better audio quality than built-in microphones. If you plan to stream regularly, consider investing in a basic streaming setup including a ring light or softbox lights, a tripod or mount for your camera, and a lavalier or condenser microphone.

Optimizing Video and Audio

Lighting is the single most important factor in video quality. Position your main light source in front of you, not behind you, to avoid appearing as a silhouette. Use soft, even lighting to reduce harsh shadows. A ring light positioned directly in front of your workspace provides flattering, even illumination. For audio, minimize background noise by streaming from a quiet room with the door closed. If using a desktop microphone, position it 6 to 12 inches from your mouth and slightly off to the side to avoid plosive sounds. Test your audio levels before going live to ensure your voice is clear and not clipping or distorted.

Setting Up Your Workspace

Create a clean, organized workspace for your streams. Position items you plan to showcase within easy reach so you can smoothly transition between products. Use a clean background or a branded backdrop that looks professional on camera. If showing firearms, ensure you have a safe, secure surface to display them. Consider setting up a top-down camera angle in addition to your face camera for detailed product close-ups. A multi-camera setup allows you to switch between showing your face (for commentary) and showing the product (for detailed views), creating a more engaging and professional streaming experience.
