Why You Need a Payment Gateway
If you are a registered business selling on WeaponDepot and want to accept credit cards for the items you sell, you will need the services of a merchant processor and an online payment gateway. These services work with the credit card networks to provide you with a Merchant ID (MID) and enable your business to accept credit card payments. Payment gateways are business services and require you to be a registered business entity to qualify. Individual sellers who are not registered businesses can use alternative payment methods such as escrow services or bank transfers.
Firearms-Friendly Payment Processors
The firearms industry faces unique challenges with payment processing because many mainstream processors prohibit firearms-related transactions. WeaponDepot supports several firearms-friendly payment gateways that specialize in or welcome firearms transactions. These include processors that understand the legal and compliance requirements of the firearms industry and provide reliable, uninterrupted service. When selecting a processor, compare transaction fees, monthly costs, setup fees, and contract terms. Some processors offer volume-based pricing that can significantly reduce costs for high-volume sellers.
Connecting Your Payment Gateway
To connect a payment gateway to your WeaponDepot seller account, navigate to your seller dashboard and select Payment Settings. Select your gateway provider from the list of supported integrations and enter your merchant credentials. The system will verify the connection and run a test transaction to ensure everything is configured correctly. Once connected, buyer payments are processed through your gateway and deposited directly into your linked bank account according to your processor's payout schedule. You can monitor all transactions, refunds, and chargebacks through both your WeaponDepot dashboard and your payment gateway's reporting tools.
