Bidding in Live Stream Auctions
Everything you need to know about placing bids during live streams, using Quick Bid controls, and winning auctions in real time.
How Live Auction Bidding Works
When a seller goes live on WeaponDepot, they can feature items for auction directly within the stream. As a buyer, you watch the stream, see items presented in real time, and place bids without ever leaving the stream page. The seller activates one item at a time from their product queue — you will see it appear in the 'Now Selling' overlay at the top of the stream with the current price, a countdown timer, and the current high bidder's name. When you place a bid, your bid is instantly broadcast to every viewer in the stream. The current price and high bidder update in real time. You compete against other live viewers, and the highest bidder when the timer reaches zero wins the item.
Using Quick Bid Controls
The Quick Bid Bar appears at the bottom of the stream whenever an item is actively being auctioned. It provides one-tap increment buttons — +$5, +$10, and +$25 — that instantly place a bid for the current price plus that increment. This is the fastest way to bid during fast-paced auctions where every second counts. For larger jumps, use the custom bid input field to type any amount above the current high bid and tap Place Bid. Jump bidding (placing a bid significantly above the current price) can sometimes discourage other bidders, but use this strategy carefully to avoid overpaying.
Bid Notifications and Outbid Alerts
WeaponDepot sends you a real-time notification the moment you are outbid during a live auction. You will see a banner in the stream and hear an alert sound. If you are watching the stream, you can immediately re-bid using the Quick Bid controls. If you have left the stream, you will receive an in-app notification and an email alert so you can rejoin and bid again before the timer expires. To stay competitive, keep the stream tab open and your volume up so you never miss an outbid alert during critical auction moments.
Winning a Live Auction
When the countdown timer reaches zero and you are the highest bidder, you win the item. A celebratory 'You Won!' notification appears on your screen with a trophy icon. The item moves to the 'Sold' section of the product queue, and you will receive an email confirmation with checkout instructions. You have up to 72 hours to complete payment, but most buyers pay immediately to ensure fast shipping. Navigate to your account dashboard to see your won auctions, complete checkout, and track shipping. If you win multiple items from the same seller during a single stream, they are automatically bundled into one order to save on shipping costs.
Tips for Live Auction Success
Set a maximum budget before the auction begins and stick to it — the excitement of live bidding can lead to impulse overspending. Join the stream early to watch the seller demonstrate items and answer questions before bidding starts. Use the chat to ask about condition, included accessories, or shipping details. Watch the bid history in the Bids tab to understand how many competitors you are facing. For Sudden Death auctions, remember that the timer extends by 30 seconds on every late bid, so patience is rewarded over sniping. Follow your favorite sellers and enable stream notifications so you never miss a live auction event.
