– THE FUNCTIONAL APPEAL OF THESE MAGS:

(And also the reason why I originally bought these) You have to consider the benefits of a semi-auto shotgun but also its limitations. This is a very deep topic, so I will only focus on the mag capacity here. While semi-auto shotguns are far more effective and deadly in any battle situation than hand-loaded shotguns mostly due to the advent of magazines, your regular (5-10rd) shotgun mags still leave something to be desired due to low number of shells available. To overcome this, some people opt for drums (20+ rds), but there’s a reason they call high-cap drums “range toys”, because they’re not very practical in a real fight. Heavy, bulky and bulbous, expensive, prone to breaking/jamming, unwieldy to carry additional drums on a vest, etc.

Even so, shotgun shells are inherently big and bulky, regardless of the container medium. In my research, which is what originally led me to buy these, a 12rd mag is the absolute perfect sweet spot. These 12rd mags are about a foot long overall, but that’s not too much longer than an average AK-47 clip. Meaning, there is a fair amount of “dead space” underneath any battle firearm which will gladly be occupied by a slightly longer mag without conflicting with anything like your body, your legs, moving, obstacles, and so on. However, any longer than this and you do begin to get into serious maneuverability issues, such as the super-extendo 19rd “double clips” I’ve seen people use (again, more like range toys than anything practical). But with these 12rd mags when fully loaded, the ergonomics, only slightly increased weight and dimensions are still manageable and performant as a bonafide weapon system on the move. If you alternate the loading into each of these to be: buckshot, slug, buckshot, slug etc in sequence, then you effectively have 6 slugs + 6 buckshots in a single mag where each type is virtually always available at any given moment in the fight (just fire-cycle to the next as needed). Put a nice red-dot or holographic sight up top, and you have an incredibly accurate and effective self-defense shotgun that can do both mid range (via the alternated slugs) and also the shotgun’s bread and butter of close range (via the alternated buckshot) with whip fast on-target acquisition.

With 12 rds available in one go, you suddenly begin to have critical mass that is significantly destructive with sustained fire, and extremely difficult for any adversaries to deal with (given the proper scenario for usage). While a bit large, they are still just compact enough that carrying multiple of these in a battle vest/harness is viable, with a bit of smart pre-configuration to adjust and dial in your loadout. Additionally, because of the sheer capacity, you can fire with abandon toward a target to attain true suppressive fire without much downside except inevitably having to reload, however that is the same firearms limitation everyone has to deal with unless your adversary has a belt-fed, but with multiple of these on your vest reloading will take 2 secs (with training) and then you’re immediately back in the fight with a fresh 12 rounds way faster than they will expect you to be. Sure, you could settle for 10-rounders, but 12 is just that much better by optimizing and maximizing the concept without any real downside for the extra 2 rds. Of course the X-factor here is the particular model and type of semi-auto shotgun you have, but most of them can handle what these mags can spit out. Buy this bundle for a VERY savvy $272 and suddenly when combined with your ammo you have 96 (yes, NINETY-SIX) rapid-fire rapid-reload 12ga rounds on your person ready to fight with in just 8 relatively compact mags that you could have pre-positioned tucked into a battle vest ready to pick up and rumble with at a moment’s notice. Just think about that. Or actually, one better, let that squad of home intruders think about that…

– THE FINANCIAL APPEAL OF THIS DEAL:

if you own a shotgun compatible with SAIGA-style mags (of which there are many types, see “NOTE” below), then by purchasing this bundle you can get a trove of high-capacity mags for your shotgun at brand-new quality, high manufacture quality, and for CHEAPER than anywhere on the market or internet (relative to the number of mags and combined price of the bundle). Each of these SGM Tactical mags cost $40 new + tax, but here I’m only charging $34/mag so you are saving 15% overall since the bundle is only $272 (34 x 8). You will not find a better deal anywhere. The price and quality you are getting here is a screaming good deal. Stock up on your high-cap SAIGA mags in one go and save $$!

– Due to high-capacity mag limits in certain states, this item cannot be sold to the following states: WA, OR, CA, CO, IL, NY, VT, MA, RI, NJ, CT, MD, DE, DC. Of course the laws are always changing state by state, but Hawaii seems to be an exception in that the high-capacity magazine ban is only for handguns, so these shotguns mags are still legal there. In order to remain legally compliant, I can only sell and ship to states NOT on that list (again, Hawaii is fine). If you live in one of those states, I do sympathize for the anti-2nd-amendment political stance of your state’s representation and current laws, however please do not buy this item since then I will be unable to ship to you and will be forced to refund your money anyway. Thank you for your understanding.

NOTE: If you are looking for SAIGA mags then you already know what gun you own and if they’re compatible or not. However, I figured I would mention anyway, that SAIGA magazines are not only for the original “SAIGA” shotgun. There are numerous shotguns old and new following the same AK pattern and other newer designs as well which harness the SAIGA-formfactor magazine such as:

SAIGA

JTS AK shotguns

Lynx 12 series

Vepr-12

Kalashnikov Komrad

SDS Imports S12

Black Aces Tactical Pro Series M Shotguns

… and many more not listed here currently still in use in large numbers in the US and internationally.
